Summary: BitRaserCloud is a safe and risk-free platform that gives customers secure access to their data erasure reports, allows them to create & manage users, and download BitRaser software. The BitRaser Cloud console is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Server and undergoes periodic Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) by the company using 3rd party tools. Read this blog to learn about VAPT Testing, what customer information is hosted on BitRaser Cloud, and how it is kept secure.
BitRaser provides its customers with a secure cloud console that can be accessed 24/7 from any internet-enabled location worldwide. Customers primarily use the cloud account to maintain their centralized repository of data erasure reports and certificates that they can access and download using their login credentials.
Stellar conducts regular Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing of the BitRaser Cloud console to gauge server software and technology risks. This helps ensure that BitRaser customers have a safe environment when interacting with the cloud console.
What is VAPT?
VAPT is a cybersecurity approach used to identify and test a system or network’s security risks and weaknesses. A VAPT test identifies the risks and provides recommendations to close these gaps. It checks the vulnerabilities of the server-side software, client access policies, outdated Java scripts, password-submitted encryption, SQL injection, and many more such parameters.
BitRaser uses Pentest-Tools, a renowned manufacturer of Penetration Testing solutions for testing its cloud platform. The product performs Sixty (60) tests and based on the findings generates BitRaser VAPT results, “Website Vulnerability Scanner Report” with ‘Risk Ratings’. (See Image 1)
BitRaser VAPT results confirm that the information stored on BitRaserCloud.com has robust security, and it operates in a low-risk environment.
However, it is also important for BitRaser customers to know what information is stored on the cloud.
Information Stored on BitRaser Cloud Console:
The BitRaser Cloud Console primarily serves as a user-friendly gateway that allows customers to create multiple users for assigning data erasure licenses to wipe machines, save data erasure reports & certificates (for ready access anytime anywhere), and securely download BitRaser product ISO files for creating bootable USB. Additionally, it also offers help manuals for easy reference along with the option to customize BitRaser ISO and showcase BitRaser license inventory. Let’s see what specific information is stored on the cloud.
- Cloud Credentials: Your credentials User name (E-Mail ID) and Password (Randomly Generated) that are delivered to your e-mail are stored on the cloud console in encrypted form.
- Erasure Reports & Certificates: The reports and certificates of data erasure performed by the customer are stored in the cloud console. This information does not contain any sensitive information. The reports contain information pertaining to the drive/device that was erased, the erasing methods used, SMART status, date & time of erasure, technician, and validator name, and other non-sensitive information. (See Image 2)
- User Information: The console stores information about the users created by you (admin) across locations, their email addresses, and names. This information is however not visible to any employee of Stellar or BitRaser team and no one apart from you would have access to this information. (See Image 3)
