BitRaser^® Mobile Windows Edition – Diagnosing Android^® Devices

BitRaser Mobile Eraser and Diagnostics enables you to run automatic tests on various hardware components, including battery, camera, touchscreen, display, microphone, SIM card slots, RAM, and internal storage. The software supports a wide range of Android® devices, including Samsung Galaxy S25/S24/S23 series, Google Pixel 9/8/7 series, OnePlus 13/12/11 series, Motorola Edge and Moto G series, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, realme, and other smartphones.

It's designed to perform reliably at every level, whether you're handling a small batch of devices for your ITAD business or running large-scale refurbishing operations. The software also offers BLK (Blacklist), SIML (SIM Lock), ESN (Electronic Serial Number), and OEM checks for mobile device processors as a paid add-on. The diagnostic process is divided into two stages, offering a simple yet practical way to perform automated and assisted tests on Android devices with minimal effort.

STAGE 1: Download & Install BitRaser Mobile Erasure & Diagnostics

STEP 1: Log in to 'BitRaser Cloud Console' using the credentials received via email. Then go to the 'Download BitRaser' section and download the Windows Variant of "BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics" (See Image 1).

STEP 2: Now, double-click on the application file to launch the installer. Then, click ‘Next’ and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process (See Image 2).

STEP 3: Select ‘Install’ from the Ready to Install screen and click ‘Finish’ to exit from the setup window and launch the application. BitRaser will start loading the initialization screen (See Image 3a & 3b).

Note: You can select the check box of auto login, so that when the next time you launch the tool, the application gets connected to the cloud account automatically.

STAGE 2: Diagnose Android Devices with BitRaser

STEP 1: The application by default opens to the ‘User’ tab under ‘Settings’. Enter your BitRaser Cloud credentials and click ‘OK’ to fetch the Mobile Diagnostics licenses and automatically upload the diagnostics reports (See Image 4).

Note: You can select the check box of auto login, so that when the next time you launch the tool, the application gets connected to the cloud account automatically.

STEP 2: Connect the Android device you want to erase to the computer (See Image 5a). When prompted, click “Allow USB Debugging?” to authorize the connection. Enabling USB debugging allows BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics to communicate with the Android device and perform the diagnosing process (See Image 5b).

STEP 3: If the ‘Allow USB debugging’ prompt does not appear, turn on USB Debugging manually. The steps to access 'Developer options' may vary by device manufacturer. This guide uses a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 to access the developer mode.
- Open Settings > About Device (or About Phone).
- Tap Build Number at least 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Return to the Settings screen and open System & updates (or Additional settings on some models).
- Turn on Developer Options.
- Scroll down and turn on USB Debugging.
- Click OK if prompted to confirm.
STEP 4: Once USB debugging is ‘Allow’ on the Android device, the device will automatically fetch your OS version, model number, serial number, IMEI, ECID and change the status from ‘Turn on USB Debugging’ to ‘Connected’

Note: To erase multiple Android devices simultaneously, click ‘Select All’ and then click ‘Erase Selected’ from the main UI of the software. To erase a single device, select the required device and click 'Erase' in its device panel.

You will see the 'Diagnostic Preparation' screen informing you about the prerequisites; click ‘OK’ to begin the Diagnostic process. You can select the 'Don't show this message again' checkbox to not receive the alert every time you diagnose your android device (See Image 7).

Note: To customize the diagnostic tests, click the ‘Settings’ icon, open the ‘Diagnostics’ tab, and select the tests you want to perform (See Image 8).

STEP 5: Once the diagnostic process starts, the Android device will progress through two status updates: 'Preparing' and 'Diagnosing' (See Image 9).

After this, the BitRaser application gets installed in your selected android device automatically. Next, you will be prompted to grant the required permissions, such as Location, Camera, Microphone, and Audio Recording, to proceed.

Note: The application supports wireless diagnostics, allowing you to disconnect the android device from the system and continue the diagnostic process. However, to submit the diagnostic results, the device must be reconnected to the application.
STEP 6: Once the permissions are provided, the application will now begin a series of automatic diagnostic tests. These tests check the following components (See Image 10):

STEP 7: After completing the automatic test, the application switches to the manual tests which cover camera, buttons, microphone & speakers, sensors, display, headset test, test call, and wireless connectivity.

Each test requires you to perform a specific action on the Android device. Depending on the test, the app either marks the result as ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ automatically, or prompts you to confirm or retry (See Images 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d).

Note: The application allows you to modify Android diagnostic settings directly within the software. You can rerun any failed test later or skip any test based on your requirements.

STEP 8: Next, verify the device accessories and grade the device. Then, click 'Submit Results' to complete the diagnostic process (See Image 12).

STEP 9: After submitting the diagnostic results, the 'Diagnosing' button changes to 'Diagnosed', and the device status updates to 'Completed' (See Image 13).

STEP 10: The digitally signed diagnostic report is automatically saved to your BitRaser Cloud Console. Or, you can download it manually from the ‘Reports’ tab. (See the Report below)

BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics barebone edition enables you to run automatic tests on various hardware components, including battery, camera, touchscreen, display, microphone, SIM card slots, RAM, and internal storage. The software supports a wide range of Android® devices, including Samsung Galaxy S25/S24/S23 series, Google Pixel 9/8/7 series, OnePlus 13/12/11 series, Motorola Edge and Moto G series, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, realme, and other tablets & smartphones.

The software also offers BLK (Blacklist), SIML (SIM Lock), ESN (Electronic Serial Number), and OEM checks for mobile device processors as a paid add-on. The diagnostic process has three stages for easy automated and assisted testing of Android devices.

STAGE 1: Download BitRaser Mobile ISO to Create Bootable Media

STEP 1: Log in to the BitRaser Cloud Console using the credentials shared over email. Then, download the “Barebone Variant: BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics ISO” from the 'Download BitRaser' section (See Image 1).

STEP 2: Prepare a bootable USB drive using Rufus. Download Rufus from https://rufus.ie, select the BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics ISO, and follow the on-screen instructions to create the bootable USB drive (See Image 2).

Once the process is completed, the USB drive will be ready as bootable media for installing BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics software on the host machine via Boot Menu.

STAGE 2: Install BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Set up a New User Profile

STEP 1: Connect bootable USB to the computer. Power ‘ON’ the machine and press the appropriate function key specified by your device manufacturer to enter the Boot Menu.
STEP 2: Once the host PC successfully boots, you will see the ‘BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics Installation Wizard’ window. Click ‘Next’ to start the installation process (See Image 3).

STEP 3: Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) to proceed.

Next, the software will prompt you to ‘Backup all your Data’ before proceeding with installation. Choose your preferred disk partitioning to install BitRaser Mobile Eraser.
STEP 4: Select the disk on which you want to install the software then click ‘Start Installation’. The wizard will begin installing the software and display "Please wait…installation is in progress" message (See Image 4).

STEP 5: After installation, remove the USB drive and click ‘Reboot’ to restart the workstation (See Image 5).

STEP 6: The software will automatically open on the ‘Network’ tab. You can connect to the internet using either ‘Ethernet’ or ‘Wireless’.

For Ethernet:
- Under the ‘Ethernet’ tab, select your active network interface from the ‘Network Device’ drop-down menu.
- Set the ‘Configuration’ drop-down to ‘Manual’.
- In the ‘Address’ section, enter your ‘IP Address’, ‘Net Mask’, and ‘Gateway’.
- In the ‘Name Servers’ section, enter your ‘DNS Primary’ and ‘DNS Secondary’ addresses.
- Click ‘Connect’ to apply the configuration and click ‘OK’ (See Image 6a).

For Wireless:
- Click ‘Wireless’ tab.
- Double-click applicable wireless network in the displayed list.
- Enter password of the wireless network & then click ‘Connect’ and press ‘OK’ (See Image 6b).

STEP 7: After this, click ‘Create New User’ tab and fill out the Username, Password and Password Hint to set up a new user profile. Then, reenter the password on the next screen and click ‘Login’ (See Image 7).

Note: The new user profile is used only to log in to the ‘BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics’ application on the host PC. It is separate from your BitRaser Cloud credentials, which are required to log in to BitRaser Cloud.

Note: In case your password is not working, click ‘Forgot Password’ to reset it.

STAGE 3: Connect & Diagnose Android Devices

STEP 1: Enter your BitRaser Cloud username and password under the ‘Users’ tab, then click ‘Login’ and ‘OK’. The software connects you to BitRaser Cloud to fetch available Mobile Erasure & Diagnostics licenses and automatically save diagnostic reports to the cloud (See Image 8).

You can select ‘Auto Login’ to automatically connect the BitRaser application to the cloud console each time you open the application.

STEP 2: Connect your Android devices (Phones or tablets) to the host PC. You will get a notification on your smartphone to ‘Turn on USB Debugging’. Enabling USB debugging allows BitRaser Mobile Eraser & Diagnostics to communicate with the Android device and perform the diagnosing process (See Image 9).

STEP 3: Click “Allow USB Debugging?” to access the android device, USB debugging gives the BitRaser application the required root access to read and erase the Android device (See Image 10).

STEP 4: If the ‘Allow USB debugging’ prompt does not appear, enable USB Debugging manually. In this guide, we’re using Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 to access the developer mode.
- Open Settings > About Device (or About Phone).
- Tap Build Number at least 7 times to enable Developer Options.
- Return to Settings and open System & updates (or Additional settings on some models).
- Turn on Developer Options.
- Scroll down and turn on USB Debugging.
- Click OK if prompted to confirm.
The steps to access developer options may vary depending on the mobile device manufacturer.
STEP 5: Once you allow USB debugging on the Android device, the device status changes from "Turn on USB Debugging" to "Connected", indicating that the device is ready for diagnostics.

Note: To diagnose multiple Android devices simultaneously, click ‘Select All’ and then click ‘Diagnose Selected’ from the main UI of the software. To diagnose a single device, select the required device and click 'Diagnose' in its device panel (See Image 11).
