This Knowledge base article provides easy instructions to transfer BitRaser licenses from your Cloud account to the Offline USB (Lock Key) of BitRaser Drive Eraser.
First, let us understand what is the Offline Variant of BitRaser Drive Eraser. This Variant is physically shipped to your location post-purchase of Drive Eraser software to help you wipe drives and devices without internet. This edition is deployed using a bootable USB. The software is delivered via two USB drives:
- One USB contains the bootable BitRaser Drive Eraser ISO.
- Other USB is the ‘Lock Key’, preloaded with the number of erasure licenses purchased.
When you need to add more licenses to your BitRaser Offline USB (Lock Key), you can easily do so without ordering a new Lock Key.
Here are the steps to transfer BitRaser Drive Eraser licenses from Cloud Variant to Offline Lock Key.
Pre-requisites:
- Active internet connection: Required to access the BitRaser Cloud portal.
- Drive Erasure licenses: Adequate Licenses must be available in your BitRaser Drive Eraser Cloud account to transfer to Offline Lock key.
- Bootable BitRaser Drive Eraser USB: To be created using Rufus for booting the system.
- Workstation: A desktop or laptop to boot with BitRaser and perform the license transfer.
- Offline USB Lock Key: The USB dongle to which the licenses will be transferred.
Let's dive into the process:
Step 1: Download the BitRaser Drive Eraser ISO from the Cloud console and create a bootable USB using Rufus. Refer to our Knowledge Base article: How to Create a Bootable USB.
Step 2: Connect the bootable USB to the laptop or desktop and boot the system using the BitRaser Drive Eraser ISO.
Once the system starts, the main interface of the BitRaser Drive Eraser software will appear (See Image 1).

Step 3: Connect the system to the Internet and then to the BitRaser Server to fetch erasure licenses (See Images 2 & 3).

Your erasure licenses are now visible in the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Click on the Cloud License icon to go to ‘License Information’ screen (See Image 4).

Click on the ‘Transfer License’ tab to view Lock Key details, including licenses used and remaining (See Image 5).

Step 6: Enter the number of licenses you want to transfer in the ‘License Count’ field, then click ‘Transfer Licenses to Lock’ (See Image 6).

Step 7: Confirm the license transfer by clicking ‘Yes’ on the pop-up window (See Image 7).

You have successfully transferred BitRaser Cloud licenses to your Offline USB Lock Key (See Image 8).
