BitRaser Drive Eraser (DFU Variant) enables secure erasure of multiple Mac ® devices in Device Firmware Update (DFU) mode. The software performs firmware-level erasure to ensure complete data sanitization and restores devices in ‘Hello Mode’, ready for reuse and redeployment.
This approach is ideal for ITADs, enterprises, and Apple® refurbishers handling bulk device sanitization.
Before starting, ensure that the Host Mac has the latest version of Apple Configurator installed, the target Mac supports DFU mode, and the BitRaser Lock Key (License USB) is available. Use stable USB-C or Thunderbolt connectivity for a smooth erasure process.
Note: The ‘Host Mac’ acts as the controller device on which the BitRaser application is installed, while the ‘Target Mac’ is the device being erased.
How to Erase Multiple Mac Devices in DFU Mode
Follow the steps below to perform Target Mac erasure:
Step 1: Download the BitRaser Drive Eraser DFU Variant application from the link provided to you in the email and install it on the Host Mac. You may be prompted to install Rosetta to support Intel-based components on Apple Silicon Macs. Once installed, launch the application (See Image 1).

Step 2: Connect the Mac device(s) you want to erase to the Host Mac using a USB-C or Thunderbolt cable. Ensure both devices are connected using the correct ports that support DFU mode. If the device is powered on, then the ‘State’ will be reflected as ‘BOOTED’ (See Image 2).

Step 5: You will see a warning window informing you that all the data stored on the Target Mac will be erased beyond recovery. Select the erasure method: BitRaser Secure Erasure or Native OS Erasure.
Click ‘OK’ to proceed. (See Image 5).

Step 6: The BitRaser application downloads the latest firmware, securely erases the Target Mac, and then restores it with the latest firmware, making it ready for reuse and redeployment (See Images 6a & 6b).

Step 7: During the process, a pop-up will appear asking you to allow BitRaser to access data from other apps.
Click ‘Allow’ (See Image 7a).
Once the Target Mac has been erased and restored to the latest firmware, it will automatically start in ‘Hello Mode,’ and the Host Mac will display the status as ‘Completed’ on the BitRaser UI (See Image 7b).
